Pakistan limited overs skipper Sarfraz Ahmed has its sights on direct qualification into the 2019 World Cup in England, as the green shirts departed for the West Indies.
Obviously, it is a tough series for both teams, as the sides would be looking to directly qualify for the upcoming World Cup, said Sarfraz Ahmed, while talking to media.
The captain added that the team has practiced hard and would hopefully give their best shot on the field, as we would make into the World Cup if we win the series.
Sarfraz informed that he is satisfied with the team selection, and was hopeful that the young players would step up against the West Indies.
Talking about Sohail Khan, the captain said Sohail Khan is not out of the team and remains part of the plan. I am hopeful that he (Sohail) would be included in the side for the Test series or the upcoming tours.
Sohail Khan was not picked for the series, despite being the most successful bowler in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL)
At the moment Pakistan cricket, is marred by the PSL spot fixing scandal, along with the dipping rankings in international cricket. Skipper Sarfraz, however shy away from the ongoing scandal and said that his team is focused on cricket.
We are facing challenges, but are focused on cricket and the series, and are concentrating on all the departments including- batting, bowling and fielding.
Pakistan and the West Indies -- currently eighth and ninth in the one-day rankings -- are vying for a direct place.
The world's top eight teams at the time of the cut off date of September 2017 will qualify for while the rest will feature in a qualifying event in 2018.
