The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a project of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to establish a sub-campus of Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan in Sahiwal.
The project would provide infrastructure and other academic facilities at the sub-campus to ensure access to qualify and diversity in education to the people of the region. The project will include construction of two academic blocks to house five academic departments, one administrative block, two hostels to house 150 students each, staff residents and students civic facilities.
It also would enhance the library facilities and computer laboratories along with office equipment, furniture and fixtures. A large human resource component of project would ensure 50 foreign doctoral scholarships for the university as part of the human resource development programme for the faculty.
The project is an expansion of Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, which started functioning in 1975 with eight academic departments. At present, its campus is spread over 960 acres of land with four constituent colleges including University Gilani Law College, University College of Agriculture, University College of Engineering and Technology and Multan College of Arts.
