former english batsmen kevin pietersen has rejected reports that he refused to attend the pakistan super league (psl) final in lahore after the statements by pakistan tehreek -e-insaf (pti) chief imran khan, where the former cricketer opposed pcb decision to hold the final in the country due to security issues.
in a video message posted on social media, the quetta gladiators batsman informed that he was told that it was not a good idea to travel to pakistan.
it was a family decision and has absolutely nothing to do with what imran khan said.

he further informed that the decision was taken before the tournament due to security concerns. it was a decision that was taken before the tournament that i wont be travelling to lahore.
kevin pietersen along with fellow englishmen luke wright and tymal mills, and south africas rilee rossouw pulled out of the tournament after gladiators achieved one-run victory against peshawar zalmi in the first play-off.
however, despite the departure of these players, the pakistan cricket board (pcb) insisted that foreign players would participate in the final.
therefore, bangladesh batsman anamul haque, zimbabwes elton chigumbura and sean ervine, south africas morn van wyk, and west indian pacer rayad emrit were picked by the quetta gladiators for the psl final.
