Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 has been a cracker of a T20 tournament filled with every conceivable ingredient needed to create a successful cricket league.
The second edition of the league has also been successful in unearthing local gems, particularly spinners.
All-rounder Shadab Khan of Islamabad United, along with his team-mate opener Hussain Talat and Lahore Qalandars Fakhar Zaman are exceptional talent with the bat. However, Pakistan chief selector Inzamam ul Haq believes the league has witnessed a dearth of quality batsmen.
Last year, off spinner Muhammad Nawaz emerged as the top pick and went on to represent Pakistan internationally.
The former captain while talking to BBC Urdu, expressed happiness to see young spinners at PSL which boost great temperament, but was not pleased with the performance of emerging batsmen, after he failed to find match winning batsman from the tournament.
Inzamam was of the view that there is a difference between playing a good knock and winning matches."Our batsmen are able to post good scores but are not able to close the match on a winning note, and need to work on it, because the national team requires match winners."
He informed that during team selection, players would be selected on their performance at domestic level as well on their performance during the PSL, because the league is a PCB event.
