ISLAMABAD: Journalists outside the Supreme Court staged protest and chanted slogans after IT Minister Anushay Rehman allegedly snatched cell phone of a journalist during the press talk.
According to ARY News, It is learnt that the journalist reportedly had shot a video inside the Supreme Court, and the minister later snatched his cell phone and attempted to delete a video.
The journalist alleged that the minister harassed him and threatened as well. The IT minister told the journalist that you can be sent behind bars for this violation.
Khawaja Saad Rafique was caught in the middle of an angry protest by journalists, who claimed that their colleague Azam Gul was threatened by IT Minister Anusha Rahman, who had also snatched his phone.
Anusha Rehman was briefing me about courts proceedings when this journalist started making video upon which she snatched mobile phone of the reporter and informed him that bringing cell phone inside Supreme Court (SC) is banned", said Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique.
I resolved the issue between Anusha and Azam Gul. However, I would like to say that it is not appropriate for anyone to carry a phone inside the vicinity of the Supreme Court," he said.
Khawaja Saad Rafique said that it was not appropriate for anyone, whether it be a minister or an MNA, to snatch anyone's belonging since it was illegal. "I asked Anusha Rahman not to delete the video herself," said Saad Rafique. "Will ask her to call Azam and apologize," he said.
Throughout his talk, Khawaja Saad Rafique faced extreme difficulty in speaking as his voice was drowned out by chants and slogans by angry journalists.
The protesting journalists demanded Anusha Rehman to offer apologise publically for snatching the mobile phone of a journo.
