imageLAHORE: Local business community should plan to avail huge opportunities existing in the logistic sector for providing modern prime movers and standardized trucking facilities on China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) routes.

Pak-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) President Wang Zihai and VP Moazzam Ghurki expressed these views during a meeting of a seven-member Chinese delegation with National Logistics Cell (NLC) Director General Maj Gen (R) Faisal Mushtaq.

The delegation was headed by Meng yan, President Shandong International Economic and Technical Corporation Group Ltd. The other members of the delegation included Xu Meng, Bai Jainmin, Wang Jieqing, Deng Yani, Sun Yicheng, and Gao Yunwei.

The delegation is on a visit to Pakistan with a purpose to develop some effective advancement to cargo trade particularly through modern trucking stations.

Meng said the ultra-modern trucking stations could make flow of cargo more efficient and fast, leading to better economical industrial growth between Pakistan and China. The main purpose of the meeting was to explore propositions for modified trucking system in Pakistan, particularly on the CPEC route.

Wang Zihai pointed out that the volume of cargo between Pakistan and China was growing rapidly and, therefore, both the countries needed to communicate, share experiences and explore all possible opportunities in industrial sector in general and logistics in particular.

Moazzam Ghurki also stressed the need for well-equipped trucking stations to ensure safe and fast delivery of freight.

The trucking system had to be revamped according to modern infrastructure needs.

That modernization might include fast paced registered, tracked and organized fleets offering controlled infrastructure with other facilities like B-double access and parking, GPS equipped tracking system, high-flow diesel pumps, healthy and fresh-cooked meals, truck drivers' lounge with Internet, shower and laundry facilities, movies theater mainly projector based and 24/7 operation services.

That all would ultimately enhance work efficiency and less risk of accidents especially at night, he suggested.

NLC Director General Faisal Mushtaq said both the countries' logistic sector needed to mutually cooperate and execute research based analysis of the future transportation requirements.

He proposed that National Logistic Cell could provide support for establishment of the proposed modern trucking station particularly from Karachi to Khunjrab.
