As a part of the promotional strategy of his upcoming film Raees, Shah Rukh Khan took a train ride from Mumbai to Delhi, and reached the Vadodara station, Gujrat on Monday night. Hundreds of fans gathered to get a glimpse of the actor, in the commotion that ensued, one person was killed and two policemen were injured.
According to Indian media reports, social activist Farid Khan Pathan had arrived at the railway platform with his wife and daughter to meet his relative, who was on that train. However, due to all the commotion, he felt suffocated and suffered a cardiac arrest. He died on his way to hospital, the police said.
As per his family, Farid was advised by doctors to avoid crowded places due to his ill health.
The police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd during which some persons sustained minor wounds on their head and face. Two constables of the Railway police also collapsed during the chaos and are undergoing treatment. They are said to be out of danger.
Reacting to the tragic incident, SRK said, "It is extremely unfortunate that someone has died. Our team was there all along, tragic that such an incident still took place," NDTV reported.
The crowd went berserk when the train halted and began banging its window panes and even falling on top of each other. Shah Rukh Khans unique marketing strategy caused huge chaos on Gujrat railway station.
Shah Rukh Khan was also accompanied by Sunny Leone along with the film crew.
