Portugal November jobless falls to 10.5pc

LISBON: Portugal's unemployment rate dipped to 10.5 percent in November from a revised rate of 10.6 percent in October, data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) showed on Friday.

The unemployment level in October was revised lower from 10.8 percent, the INE said.

In November 2015 unemployment stood at 12.3 percent. The jobless rate, which peaked in early 2013 at over 17 percent, has been falling steadily since then as the economy returned to growth. According to the monthly unemployment data, the youth unemployment rate of those aged 15 to 24 rose to 28.4 percent in November from 27.8 percent in October.

The total number of unemployed fell to 534,300 people in November from 545,300 in October, INE said.
