ISLAMABAD: A new Supreme Court (SC) larger bench led by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed the hearing of Panama Papers Leaks case on Wednesday.
According to latest reports, the five-member SC bench announced to hear the high-profile case on a daily basis, claiming it would try to give a decision on the case at the earliest without any delay.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Naeem Bukhari opened the hearing by highlighting details of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharifs April 4 speech on the leaks. Bukhari said that the Prime Minister had lied therefore he was neither Sadiq nor Ameen (truthful and trustworthy), and therefore he should be disqualified
He said the PM never mentioned Qatari investment in his speeches.
Senior PTI leaders including chairman Imran Khan, Jehangir Tareen, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Shireen Mazari and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed were also present in the courtroom along with key PML-N leaders.
The new bench includes Justice Ejaz Afzal, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan.
In the latest development surrounding the Panama leaks case, the Prime Minister and his children have changed their legal team. The premier is being represented by Makhdoom Ali Khan, while Maryam Nawaz and her spouse Captain Safdar are being represented by Shahid Hamid, while Salman Akram Raja will represent Hussain Nawaz.
