LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to use drone technology for correct measurement of lands.

The purpose of this decision is to modernize land record management system, and a pilot project has been prepared for this purpose with the technical assistance of Punjab Information Technology Board.

According to a spokesman of the Punjab government, use of information technology would help accelerating computerization of land record. He said besides maintaining correct record of land with the help of land record management information system, the Punjab government had also ensured transparency in the matters of revenue.

He said this system had ensured up-to-date land record as well as transparency.

Moreover, he said, computerization of land record had eliminated centuries-old exploitative Patwari system.

The spokesman said use of drone technology would accelerate the process of mapping of lands and provision of better service delivery to the masses.

He said this project reflected the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to use modern technology to achieve the goal of good governance.

Use of drone technology would also result in elimination of encroachments and earlier disposal of revenue cases, he added.
