Under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister, the capacity of beds is being increased from 1400 to 3500 beds in social security hospitals for providing better and maximum health cover to the industrial workers in Punjab, said Punjab Employees Social Security Institution Commissioner Syed Tahir Raza Naqvi.
Talking to Business Recorder here on Monday he said that government was utilising more than Rs 2.32 billion on the construction of big and mini hospitals and provision of medicines to the industrial workers.
Tahir Raza said that 50 bed hospitals were being established at Sargodha, Chakwal, Taxila and Toba Take Singh to facilitate the industrial workers of these areas besides, 1000 bed hospitals were also being set up at Sialkot and Gujrat and in some other cities of the Punjab.
He said that Social Security Hospital Sialkot would be operational within three to four months and its regular functioning would provide modern health cover to the local industrial workers.
