LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on International Day for Tolerance, has said that Islam stresses on promotion of attitudes of accommodation, tolerance and brotherhood.
He said a society deteriorated due to the behavior of intolerance therefore it was need of the hour that importance and usefulness of accommodation and forbearance should be highlighted in the society.
Shehbaz Sharif said the aim of observing the day was to highlight the importance of temperance, restraint and patience in the society.
He said a peaceful society could be constituted only by promoting the sentiments of brotherhood, tolerance and accommodation.
The sentiments of tolerance and forbearance could also be promoted by strengthening democratic attitudes, he added.
He said in order to promote the sentiments of accommodation in the society, creation of awareness about its importance was necessary.
The Chief Minister said educational institutions, universities and seminaries could play an important role in improving the trend of forbearance and patience.
He said, "On this day we have to pledge the determination of eliminating prejudice of every kind and promoting tolerance and accommodation.”
