Police asked to protect life, property of citizens

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Tuesday has directed that police should ensure the protection of life and property of the people and keep a tight rein on outlaws. The Chief Minister said that he would only be satisfied with the performance of police when people will be satisfied from it. He ordered to immediately apprehend the accused involved in the murder of a shopkeeper in Township and injuring the youth during Chung's incident. The Chief Minister also announced free treatment of the youth injured in Chung's incident and financial assistance of Rs 2,00,000 for his mother Zubaida. Taking notice of the incidents of murder of a shopkeeper in Township and injuring a youth in Chung's incident, the Chief Minister called for Capital City Police Officer, DIG Operation and concerned SP in his office and inquired the details about these incidents. Zubaida, mother of the youth injured in Chung's incident informed the details of the incident to the Chief Minister.

Talking on this occasion, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that maintenance of law and order is the responsibility of the police and no effort should be spared in this regard. He said that police should be a sign of terror for criminals and become the protector of the law-abiding citizens in the real sense.
