The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has declared Margalla Railway Station, Islamabad, as Dry Port for clearance of import/export consignments. The CBR has issued SRO (I)/2005 here on Tuesday to notify the new dry port.
The dry port will facilitate the business community of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, and particularly the diplomatic missions. Islamabad-based diplomats will be able to clear their consignments from the new dry port, instead of clearing the same from Karachi or Peshawar.
The Central Board of Revenue has declared an area of 13.8 acres as the new customs port.
FOLLOWING IS THE TEXT OF THE NOTIFICATION ISSUED ON TUESDAY: In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (a) of section 9 and clause (a) of Section 10 of the Customs Act, 1969 (IV of 1969), the Central Board of Revenue is pleased to declare Margalla Railway Station, Islamabad, measuring an area of 13.8 acres, to be a customs-port named as the Islamabad Dryport, for clearance of goods imported or to be exported and to specify the following to be customs-limits thereof, namely:-
North, IQRA University Road, (service road) facing Sector H-9 area. East, Green belt owned by CDA. West, Railways track and land owned by Pakistan Railways. South, Industrial area road (service road) facing sector I-9 Industrial area.
