CBR identifies 33 major smuggling routes

The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has identified 33 major land routes extensively used for the smuggling of different kinds of merchandise from Afghanistan, Iran, China and India. A CBR report on "Smuggling" revealed that most of the illicit trade is carried out through land routes from the neighbouring countries like Iran, Afghanistan, China and India.
Smuggling could not be checked if these routes are not effectively plugged by the anti-smuggling agencies.
PAKISTAN-AFGHANISTAN BORDER: Within the jurisdiction of Bajaur Agency, two routes are used for smuggling including Nawa Pass Nawagai-Khar-Dir/Ekka Ghund-Peshawar and Khakhai-Kit Kot Inayat Qilla-Khar/Dir-Nawagai-Ekka Ghund-Peshawar.
MOHMAND AGENCY: The frequently routes used for smuggling are Nawa Pass-Mohammad Ghat-Ghalani-Ekka Ghund-Peshawar; Ato Khel-Darwazgai-Ghalani-Ekka Ghund Peshawar; Khapakh-Ghalanai-Ekka Ghund-Peshawar and Nawagai-Chopan-Ekka Ghund-Peshawar.
KHYBER AGENCY: Torkahm-Peshawar, Tirah valley-Bara-Peshawar and Shilman-Landikotal-Peshawar.
Kurram Agency: Teri-Mangal-Paraachinar-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway; Kharlachi-Paraachinar-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway; Kharlaclhi-Malik Khel-Sadda-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway; Lakka Tigga-Arawali-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway; Shorko-Arawali-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway; Shaheedano Dand-Alizai-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway and Shaheedano Dand-Alizai-Thal-Kohat-Indus Highway.
NORTH WAZIRISTAN AGENCY: Ghulam Khan-Miranshah-Bannu-Indus Highway and Lawarra-Dattakhel-Boya-Miranshah-Bannu-Indus Highway.
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN AGENCY: Angoor Adda-Wana-Tank-D I Khan-Indus Highway.
CHITRAL DISTRICT: Kunar-Afghanistan-Arandu-Chitral; Badakhshan-Afghanistan-Garam Chashma-Chitral and Tajikistan-Baroghal pass-Chitral.
BALOCHISTAN: Chamman-Quetta, RCD Highway-Karachi; Chamman-Muslim Bagh-D.G. Khan; Zhob-DI Khan (NWFP)-Indus Highway; Gulistan-Quetta-RCD Highway-Karachi and Anam Bostan Quetta-RCD Highway-Karachi.
PAK-IRAN BORDER: Five major routes are used by the smugglers for smuggling of Iranian products. These are Taftan-Nokundi-Noshki-Ahmedwal-Patkhan-Baisama-Surab-RCD Highway-Karachi; Balnigore (kech) -Dasht-Hoshab-Gichk-Basima-Surab-RCD Highway-Karachi; Gwarak-Panjgur-Pattik-Basima_Surab-RCD Highway-Karachi; Chabahar border-Balnigore-Pasni-Gwadar-Coastal Bhighway-Karach and Surab-Khuzdar-Karkh-Shahdadkot(Sindh)-Larkana-Karachi.
PAKISTAN-CHINA BORDER: Khujjrab-Sost-Gilgit-Besham-Swat (NWFP) and another route used for smuggling of Chinese products into Pakistan is Khunjrab-Sost-Gilgit-Besham-Abbottabad Rawalpindi.
