ATC acquits Khawar Mehdi

A noted freelance journalist, Khawar Mehdi and his two accomplices were acquitted of the treason charge for lack of evidence by Shaukat Ali Rakhshani, the judge of Anti Terrorist Court, here on Saturday. According to details, two French journalists along with Khawar Mehdi and his two accomplices-Allah Noor and Abdullah Shakir-were arrested in December 2002 for making documentary on fake activities of Taleban in Qilla Abdullah area of Balochistan.
A case of treason was registered against them. The French journalists were later released by a Karachi court and sent to their country.
