KBP for fixing sugarcane at Rs250 per maund

LAHORE: Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) on Sunday demanded the government to fix the minimum sugarcane support price at Rs250 per maund to facilitate farmers.

KBP President Sardar Zafar Hussain said that this year sugarcane was being cultivated on a large area of 990,000 acre which would produce 51.86 ton sugarcane.

He said that with the reduction of Rs100 in per maund sugarcane prices, growers would face huge losses. He said the loss would further aggravate problems of the poor farmers.
