WELLINGTON: New Zealand consumer confidence was steady in the third quarter as the domestic economy picked up pace and the job market stabilised, a survey showed on Monday.
The Westpac-McDermott Miller consumer confidence index remained unchanged at 112. A reading above 100 indicates more optimists than pessimists.
The economy grew unexpectedly 0.8 percent in the first quarter, shrugging off the devastating earthquake in Christchurch. Strong commodity prices have also boosted domestic income as the country's terms of trade climbed to a 37-year high.
