indexsKARACHI: President Karachi Transporters Action Committee (KATC), Mohammad Ashraf Banglori has demanded strict action against those who were reportedly fleecing flood victims in their efforts to move-out from calamity hit areas to safer places.

In a statement on Sunday, he expressed his strong concern over reported instances of heavy transportation fare charged by private transporters from affected people trying to reach relief camps or other safe places.

Banglori appealed to the transporters of the province in general not to charge fare from those affected by the floods.

He also urged the transporters of Karachi to donate at-least a day of their earning for the relief of flood victims.

He said the provincial body of the transporters will support the government in its action against transporters indulged in over charging the people in the flood affected parts of the province.

Banglori and other office bearers of the KTAC, including Chaudhri Mazhar Hussain, Tanzeem Khan and Nazir Banglori in their joint statement expressed complete solidarity with the flood victims who had not only been deprived of their abode but also exposed to series of ailments, amidst shortage of food.
