Kazakhstan August inflation slows to 0.3pc m/m

ALMATY: Inflation in Kazakhstan slowed to 0.3 percent in August on a month-on-month basis from 0.5 percent in July, the State Statistics Agency said on Thursday.

Kazakhstan's consumer prices have risen by 5.9 percent in January-August this year compared to a 4.6-percent rise in the same period of 2010.

The central bank, which targets inflation at 6.0-8.0 pct in 2011-15, said last month it might raise its inflation target for this year because its monetary and credit policy may not be enough to curb inflationary pressures.

Inflation in Kazakhstan accelerated to 7.8 percent in 2010 from 6.2 percent in 2009.
