NEW DELHI: India's fiscal deficit during April to July was 2.29 trillion rupees ($49.6 billion), or 55.4 percent of the full-year target, government data showed on Tuesday.
Net tax receipts were 1.14 trillion rupees and total expenditure was 3.75 trillion rupees for the April-July period.
In February, the government had forecast a fiscal deficit of 4.13 trillion rupees, or 4.6 percent of gross domestic product, for the current financial year ending in March 2012.
