SYDNEY: Australian stocks gave up strong gains Wednesday to close 0.14 percent lower as nervous investors ignored decent corporate earnings reports to take money off the table.
At the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was down 5.8 points at 4,167.6 having traded more than 1.5 percent higher early in the day on the back of a surging Wall Street.
The Australian dollar was trading at 104.83 US cents late in the session, marginally up from its 104.74 cents close on Tuesday.
