SEOUL: South Korean shared closed 1.7 percent lower on Thursday as major technology shares were hit by concerns over a record-low memory chip price and slowing demand from the US market.
The benchmark KOSPI index was down 32.09 points at 1,860.58.
Samsung Electronics, the world's biggest memory chipmaker, plunged 5.72 percent and LG Electronics, the world's third-largest mobile phone producer, shed 6.11 percent.
