floodISLAMABAD: The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Wednesday said the presently, all the main rivers are flowing normal and low flood is expected in Ravi and Sutlej Rivers during the next 24 hours.

The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicate that Tarbela and Mangla dams are at elevations of 1532.25 feet and 1201.25 feet respectively, which are 17.75 feet and 8.75 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1210.00 feet, said a daily FFC report.

The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 10.327 MAF as compared to last year's 11.308 MAF.

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Tuesday's Monsoon Low over western Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Haryana (India) has moved northeastwards and lies over Northern Uttar Pradesh (India) and has become insignificant for Pakistan.

Tuesday's trough of weak Westerly Wave still persists over Kashmir and seasonal Low lies over Northwestern Balochistan and adjoining areas. Weak monsoon current from Arabian sea is penetrating into Punjab upto 3000 feet.

The FFD predicted isolated thunderstorm/rain over Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and North-Northeastern Punjab including upper catchments of Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej Rivers during the next 24 hours.

Isolated thundershowers may also occur over Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore Divisions during the same period.

Significant rainfall events as reported during the past 24 hours include Islamabad & Joharabad 40 mm each, Warsak 39 mm, Tarbela 29 mm, Sargodha 24 mm, Kamra 22 mm, Chakwal 20 mm, Attock 18 mm, Domel 17 mm, Shinkiari 15 mm, Kotnaina 13 mm and Kakul 10 mm.
