australian-securitiesSYDNEY: Australian stocks closed 1.32 percent up on Wednesday with the market gaining confidence from corporate earnings coming in mostly in line with expectations.

At the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was 56.6 points higher at 4,303.9.

The Australian dollar was trading at 104.92 US cents, up from 104.44 US cents on Tuesday.
