Govt empowered people of tribal areas: Dr Firdous
KARACHI: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the government has empowered the people of Tribal Areas politically, socially and legally through reforms.
She was speaking at Pakistan Peoples Party media cell here on Tuesday.
The minister said the government was promoting the politics of reconciliation and resolving the problems facing the country through dialogue. She said our agenda is to promote harmony in the country.
The information minister said the PPP leadership always talked about solidarity of the country and unity of the people whereas our opponents talked to divide the public.
She said media could play an important role in projecting the true image of Pakistan.
She said Electronic Media Directorate has been established at Press Information Department in Islamabad to facilitate the electronic media. She said such directorates will also be set up at provincial capitals.
She said the government was in the processing of arranging training courses for capacity building of media persons. She said a pilot project would be started from Karachi.
