ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Dr. Fehmida Mirza on Tuesday said that government is committed to provide relief to the flood and rain-hit masses in Badin district on war -footing basis.
Talking to a private news channel, she said for the first time ever in the history Badin witnessed the worst and the cruelest spate of downpours which wreaked havoc with the routine life and devastated a large area of the district as well.
She said the met office recorded unanticipated 600 millimeter rain in Badin this year which left the entire district topsy-turvy.
"The government has set up more than three dozen camps to provide affectees with relief packages on immediate basis," she said.
Fehmida said affectees need tents and food on war-footing basis. Medicines for anti-snake bites have been sent from Islamabad in bulk quantity, she said.
