TOKYO: Japanese shares lost 0.63 percent on Thursday, trailing a sharp plunge on Wall Street amid deepening worries over the global economy and eurozone debt crisis.
The benchmark Nikkei index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange fell 56.80 points to 8,981.94, but was off the intraday low of 8,832.42 marked shortly after the opening bell.
