exportISLAMABAD: Exports of sports goods and leather products increased by 8.34 percent and 17.84 percent during the fiscal year 2010-11 over the last year, Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) said on Monday.

Exports of sports goods stood at $323.037 million during July-June (2010-11) as compared to the exports of $298.162 million during the corresponding period of last year.

The highest increase among sports good was witnessed in the exports of gloves, which grew by 22.06 percent during the period by going up from $98.159 million to 119.813 million.

Exports of other sports goods was recorded at $58.827 million against the exports of $48.467 million, showing an increase of 21.38 percent in year 2010-11 against the last year, the provisional figures released by FBS revealed.

However, the exports of footballs from the country witnessed negative growth of 4.71 percent during the period. The football exports declined from $151.536 million to $144.397 million in year 2010-11.

On the other hand, the overall exports of leather manufactures increased by 17.84 percent during the fiscal year under review. The leather exports stood at $540.450 million in 2010-11 against the exports of $458.634 million in 2009-10.

Among the leather products, the exports of leather garments increased from $342.659 million to $405.782 million, showing an increase of 18.42 percent.

The exports of leather gloves increased by 16.72 percent by growing from $101.893 million to 118.927 million.

The exports of other leather products also increased by 11.78 percent as these exports grew from 14.082 million to 15.741 million, the FBS figures revealed.

The exports of footwear increased by 17.30 percent by swelling from 92.752 million to 108.799 million, according to the data.

Exports of leather tanned also surged by 21.38 percent as these went up from $341.800 million to $462.263 million.

Among the footwear products, the exports of leather footwear increased 21.20 percent, canvas foot wear by 49.92 percent while the exports of other footwear increased by 6.04 percent during the year under review.

The leather foot wear stood at $81.291 million in 2010-11 against $67.070 million in 2009-10 while the canvas foot year exports were recorded at $0.943 million against 0.629 million and other footwear exports stood at $26.565 million against $25.053 million, the data revealed.
