‘Textile City to be completed next year, provide 80,000 jobs’
KARACHI: The Textile City being built at Port Qasim will be completed next year and provide 80,000 jobs, says Federal Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh.
"It is one of the very important mega projects to enhance textile exports with public-private collaboration having an estimated initial cost of infrastructure facility of Rs1.5 billion, spread over 1250 acres covered area," he told the press Saturday after chairing a meeting here.
Hafeez Sheikh said that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) will, hopefully, give approval to the Textile City project next week. It will have 800 plots covering all ancillary units of the textile industry, 250MW electric supply and 20 million gallons of water per day. "
Textile City CEO Zaheer Khan said the vision was to operate a world class industrial zone dedicated to value added textiles and project Pakistan as a textile hub. It will have one window operation, utility supply and treatment plant.
