iciKARACHI: ICI Pakistan Limited has announced a major investment in its Soda Ash Plant at Khewra. The investment of over Rs.2 billion is focused on addressing the energy deficit faced by the company due to restricted supply of natural gas affecting plant output and efficiencies, an ICI release said Wednesday.

The company plans to install boilers for steam generation based on state of the art Coal Fired Technology. The project is expected to be completed and commissioned in 19 months, it said. With the commissioning of this project, the Soda Ash Plant having a capacity to produce 350,000 tons per year will be better placed to serve its customers.
