LONDON: European stock markets closed sharply lower on Monday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index of top shares falling 1.55 percent to 5,752.81 points.
In Frankfurt, the DAX dropped 1.55 percent to 7,107.92 points while in Paris the CAC 40 fell 2.04 percent to 3,650.71 points, its lowest point of the year.
