CAIRO: Egypt's finance minister, who was appointed shortly before the end of Hosni Mubarak's rule, said he had resigned on Sunday and would be replaced by the prime minister's newly appointed deputy and economic adviser, Hazem el-Beblawi.
Industry Minister Samir el-Sayyad also quit, ahead of the announcement of a reshuffle by Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, who had said he would change his cabinet.
"I have submitted my resignation to the military council and to the prime minister. They have accepted it with regret," outgoing finance minister Samir Radwan told Reuters, adding that Beblawi would take on the role.
