NBP converts Islamabad, Quetta offices into on-line facilities

KARACHI: The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is in the process of converting its branches into on-line facilities across the country. This was stated by a spokesman of the bank.

"NBP has already launched its core banking application in 2010 and continuing the IT progress, recently converting its Islamabad and Quetta regions completely on-line," said one of the key spokesperson of the NBP here on Wednesday while talking to APP.

"Definitely we have facilities but it may take 6 to 12 months to cover the entire country," said Ali Zaib, a spokesperson of NBP while referring to queries put forward by the customers.

"Strategy is to convert majority of our branches on-line by the end of this year for which work is in progress," he said.

"Currently the bank is in the implementation phase of Core Banking System," he further maintained.

The NBP is the only Bank in Pakistan with formal empowerment programme and works in remotest areas of the country.

It has 22 correspondent banks and exchange companies worldwide to facilitate remitters and beneficiaries to enjoy NBP remittance services without any charge and fees.
