SANTIAGO: The union representing workers at Chile's Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, announced a 24-hour strike Monday in opposition to a plan they say would begin to privatize the state-owned mining corporation.
The strike -- the company's first in 18 years -- stops work at a mining operation that produces 11 percent of the world's copper.
