TOKYO: The Nikkei average sustained its biggest loss in two weeks on Monday, after weak US and Chinese economic data triggered profit-taking on three weeks of gains, but the 10,000 line held as investors shied away from building large positions ahead of US earnings.
The benchmark Nikkei closed down 0.7 percent at 10,069.53, while the broader Topix index shed 0.5 percent to 870.16.
