USG People to cut 115 jobs
AMSTERDAM: Dutch staffing firm USG People will cut or outsource 115 jobs, a union official said on Thursday, citing numbers which are much lower than previously reported by the local media.
USG People, which is Europe's fourth-largest staffing firm by revenue, has been hit by slow growth in the Dutch market. It said on Wednesday it would announce a new round of job cuts next week, but denied speculation that it would lay off a quarter of its 8,000 employees.
Lex Makkinje, a spokesman at trade union FNV Bongenoten, said on Thursday he was preparing redundancy plans for 75 people who will lose their jobs in the back-office operations at USG People's headquarters in the Dutch city of Almere.
He also said that USG People will outsource 40 IT staff to another company, bringing the total number of people affected to about 115. USG People makes 38 percent of its revenues from the Dutch market, where the public and financial sectors have been hard hit by the financial crisis and by government budget cuts.
