KARACHI: MQM's Rabita Committee Member and Minister of Health Dr. Saghir Ahmed has said that Altaf Hussain is still in hospital and doctors are conducting different tests to determine illness.
He added that Altaf Hussain underwent angiography and doctors performed different tests and reports of these tests would be given today. He said doctors would recommend treatment on the basis of these reports.
Today we will observe Youm-e-Dua. We will pray for Altaf Hussain's health and safety, He expressed these views while addressing the media at the sit-in site on the fourth day of the protest rally here, said a statement issued by MQM on Friday.
"Our major cause of concern is Altaf Hussain's health and we are praying for his complete recovery," Dr. Saghir said.
In response to a question Dr. Saghir said, Acting Pakistani High Commission Imran Mirza met with Altaf Hussain in the hospital. Altaf Hussain also met with his daughter Afza and this new developments have reinforced our hope and feelings, he added.
Altaf has contacted twice with the International Secretariat and has advised his supporters to carry on their struggle in peaceful manner, Dr. Saghir said
Dr. Saghir said that Altaf Hussain paid great tributes to his supporters and urged his workers and people not to worry about him because adversities had not been able to shake his resolve.
"Altaf Hussain has thanked all the political and religious parties and people of all walks of life who have supported in his difficult time. He said that Karachi's people have shown with their peaceful protest that they love peace," Dr. Saghir said.
Dr. Saghir said, MQM's Rabita Committee appeals to people to participate in sit-ins in Karachi and other parts of the country and pray for Altaf Hussain safety and health.
