ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Tuesday said that freedom of expression and democracy were interlinked.
Talking to representatives of Gujrat Press Club here at Parliament House, the Information Minister said the government believed in media independence and freedom of expression.She said the government was trying to provide conducive working environment for journalists.
She said that constructive criticism from media helped the government to revisit its developmental policies.
The Information Minister gave a checque of Rs 500,000 for the Gujrat Press Club.
Samina Mushtaq Paganwala, MNA, was also present in the meeting.
