ABUJA: A bomb blast at an electoral office near the Nigerian capital on Friday on the eve of parliamentary polls has killed at least eight people, police said.
"Eight persons were confirmed dead and 26 others injured," police said in a statement of the blast in Suleija.
A spokesman for the national emergency management agency called the situation "horrific."
The head of the agency "has directed movement of other serious injured to be moved to two other hospitals in Abuja because Suleija hospital is overwhelmed," the spokesman said.
