On the directions of the Punjab government, the price control magistrates checked the prices of essential commodities at markets, bazaars and mega stores and imposed fines of Rs 47,000 to 40 shopkeepers for overcharging on the first day of Ramazan.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali said that a total of 1110 inspections were conducted by 32 price control magistrates and 40 violators were fined on the spot for collecting more than the stipulated government prices.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali said that the price control magistrates should conduct inspections during Ramadan and no one would be allowed to raise the prices in the currant situation of corona virus. He said that price control magistrates have been mobilized to provide quality items to consumers at the control price and no shopkeeper will be excused for overcharging.

The Deputy Commissioner said that DC counters have been set up at 23 mega super stores across the city where fruits, vegetables, pulses, sugar and other food items were sold at government rates, in this regard; he himself and ACs monitored the prices in markets. He said that four farmers plate form had also been established at Sadhar, Gmabad vegetable markets besides at model bazaars Jhang road and Millat road where farmers were selling their items directly. He informed that online home delivery shops of fruits and vegetables are also functional which would also increase. He cleared that strict monitoring of prices of essential items would continue in the markets and bazaars and violators would behind the bar.
