The Karachi Port handled 145,701 tonnes of cargo comprising 99,039 tonnes of import cargo and 46,662 tonnes of export cargo including 7,303 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 99,039 tonnes comprised of 55,839 tonnes of containerised cargo and 43,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 46,662 tonnes comprised of 13,802 tonnes of containerised cargo; 360 tonnes of bulk cargo; 26,300 tonnes of clinker and 6,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,303 containers comprising of 4,006 containers of import and 3,297 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,033 of 20's and 1,322 of 40's loaded while 237 of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 230 of 20's and 321 of 40's loaded containers while 1,297 of 20's and 564 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely CMA CGM Racine, Folegandros and Botany Bay carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels Greenwich Bridge, Altonia, Navios Unison and CMA CGM Moliere carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 135,078 tonnes comprising 83,432 tonnes of import cargo and 51,646 tonnes of export cargo including 3,306 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 83,432 tonnes includes 30,046 tonnes of coal; 4,474 tonnes of palm oil; 17,000 tonnes of canola seeds; 11,373 tonnes of mogas and 20,539 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 51,646 tonnes includes 9,371 tonnes of rice and 42,275 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,306 containers comprising of 1,081 containers import and 2,225 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely Navios Christian-B and Rigel carrying coal and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely MOL Globe, MSC Asya and Maersk Columbus carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, canola seeds, mogas and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. Rabea, IVS Nauro, Intuition, Tiger Winter, CSC Cyanete, JS Fablous, MIM St. Jean, Mega-1, Elim and JBU Opal carrying steel coil, coal, soyabean, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Hansa America, MOL Globe, IVS Naruo, Luzon, Paramita and Elim carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There were four ships namely MOL Courage, Hansa America, Luzon and Paramita carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CMA CGM Moliere and Smiley Lady carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
