PM Imran Khan invites SAP to open software labs in Pakistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has invited German software corporation SAP SE to setup software labs in Pakistan to do software engineering work for the company in Pakistan.

Christian Klein, CEO SAP called on Prime Minister Imran Khan at Davos, on the sidelines of World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2020.

Advisor on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Advisor on Commerce Abdul Razaq Dawood, SAPM Syed Zulfiqar Abbas Bokhari, SAPM Dr. Moeed Yusuf, Ambassador at Large on Foreign Investment Ali Jehangir Siddiqui were also present during the meeting.

Klein apprised Prime Minister Imran Khan that SAP has a long association with Pakistan since the last 20 years with its most significant project being digital system of administering salaries and pensions of the Government of Pakistan.

CEO SAP appreciated the Pakistan government focus on digitization of governance and economic sectors. He expressed SAP's commitment to train young software engineers in Germany and using them for software development in Pakistan.

Speaking at the Pakistan Strategy Dialogue at Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday, the Prime Minister highlighted Pakistan’s tourism potential. “Top travelling bodies have named Pakistan as a top travelling destination. We believe that tourism has the potential to earn a lot of foreign exchange for Pakistan," he said.

Earlier, PM Imran also held a meeting with Chairman of Turkish company Çal?k Holding Ahmet Çal?k.

Pakistan boosts one of the worlds biggest and fastest growing freelance market, just days ago, the government decided to increase the monthly limit of receiving payments to $25,000. At present the monthly limit of receiving payments for freelancers stand at $5,000.
