Pakistan have ‘finally stood up’ in World Cup, says Ramiz Raja

Pakistan showcased their abilities to the world last night after they beat the daunting New Zealand by six wickets in a do or die match at the ICC World Cup 2019 at Birmingham.

The side that was down to their knees after a humiliating loss against arch rivals India, have rose to the occasion beating the likes of South Africa and New Zealand. The win against the Black Caps was particularly sweet as they were unbeaten in the tournament until they met Pakistan.

With the confidence rising high, Pakistan has now emerged as a tough contender in the tournament, says former captain-turned-cricket commentator Ramiz Raja. “This team has finally stood up; and I am getting the feeling that it would be very difficult for any side to beat Pakistan now. However, Pakistan needs to concentrate on the upcoming two matches and aim towards winning them,” said Raja.

“The team should give their 100 percent and then see what happens,” he added.

With seven points in the kitty and two games to go, Pakistan would face neighboring Afghanistan in their next match on June 29, at Leeds, Headingly.
