SC dismisses Imran Khan's review petition against Ayesha Gulalai

The Supreme Court (SC) dismissed on Wednesday a review petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against Member of National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai.
The three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, took up the case. In his petition, Khan had asked for a review of the decision made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in not de-seating Gulalai from the National Assembly.
Last year on October 24, the ECP dismissed Khan's petition and ruled that Gulalai will remain a member of National Assembly from PTI.
Khan had claimed in his petition that Gulalai violated party rules by declining to vote for PTI’s chosen candidate, Sheikh Rasheed, in the election for the prime minister’s office after the deposition of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Gulalai urges people to vote for appropriate politicians
Last year in August, Gulalai accused the PTI chairman of sending her inappropriate messages, after which she announced to leave the party. Announcing her decision on media of quitting the party, Gulalai expressed her dejection to Khan’s attitude towards female party workers and said, “Women are not given due respect in the party. Their self respect is threatened by the party chairman.”
