When Saudi Arabia granted a citizenship to the humanoid robot Sophia, people raised criticisms about giving rights to a female robot but not to actual women in the country. This time, Sophia is now raising her voice for equal rights for the women of Saudi Arabia.

With the help of her artificial intelligence (AI), Sophia, who once said it wanted to destroy humans, has now became an advocate for women’s right in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the country where females were given rights to drive cars just three months ago in September.

The company that made Sophia, Hanson Robotics’ CEO David Hanson said, “I see a push for progressive values…in Saudi Arabia. Sophia is a big advocate for women’s rights, for rights of all human beings. So this is how we’re developing this. She has been reaching out about women’s rights in Saudi Arabia and about rights for all human beings and all living beings on this planet.”

The robot was given citizenship last month and according to Hanson, along with providing human rights, the world should also think about providing rights to machines. Though Sophia is still at an early stage of development, Hanson said, “I think we should see the future with respect for all sentient beings and that will include machines,” reported CNBC.
