United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Joseph L. Votel met Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa during a meeting held on Thursday at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The main focus of the meeting was to discuss the regional security situation, Afghanistan, Pak-Afghan border management and Pakistan’s positive contributions towards peace and stability in the region.

While discussing the regional security situation in Pak-Afghan, General Bajwa stressed that peace in Afghanistan is more important for Pakistan than any other country. He further emphasized that for the sake of its future, Pakistan would continue its efforts despite constraints.

He said, however, the continuous attacks from across the border shows that the same was not being reciprocated.

The US commander acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s contributions and Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terror.
