imageThe holy month of Ramadan encourages the Muslims and non-Muslims to come together for generous causes and charitable activities.

Predominated by Hindus, India is also home to the world’s second-largest concentration of Muslims, after Indonesia. Hence, you can imagine that Ramadan in India is celebrated with extreme zest as in Muslim dominated countries, albeit with an Indian influence. The best part of Ramzan in India is that even a few non-Muslims keep fast for some days to practice and test their will power. During that time, it feels like we all are one, despite different faiths.

As Indian news channels reported, a shopkeeper at Urdu Bazar, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been observing fasting during the first 10 days of Ramadan over the past three decades, in a silent practices keep India’s harmonious and pluralistic.

Also, to set an inspiring example of communal harmony, on the first day of Ramadan, in Muzaffarnagar more than 60 Hindu inmates of the district jail keep fast, along with 1,150 Muslim inmates, The New Indian Express reported.Special arrangement have been made for the inmates to perform their prayers and enjoy their pre-dawn ‘Suhoor’ meal and evening meal known as ‘Iftar’.

Food items like seasonal foods, dates, 500 gram milk and various snacks are being made available to them, said Satish Tripathi, Jailor of the district Jail.

This is the extent of Ramadan’s miracle in India. You have to visit India during Ramzan to experience the love, peace, harmony and togetherness despite the country being an amalgamation of different cultures and faiths.
