A spokesperson for the US State Department said that the US remains deeply concerned by developments in the cases of those involved in Pearl’s kidnapping and murder.
The official urged the Pakistani government to continue its effort to keep Sheikh and other suspects in custody.
"The cell phone of Justice Qazi Faez Isa has been hacked and there is suspicion that misguiding communication can be made from his lordship's number to anyone with ulterior motives."
Any messages or communication from Justice Isa’s cellphone should be considered “fake and false,” the spokesperson added.
Notices to Advocate Generals, the Election Commission of Pakistan, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly and the Speakers of provincial assemblies has been issued in this regard.
The registrar’s office of the apex court had earlier fixed the case for hearing on January 18.
