RECORDER REPORT: KSE close of day
KARACHI: Profit taking in late hours mainly by local investors minimized the intra-day gains and the benchmark KSE-100 index closed at 13,936.48 points, up 7.01 points on Friday.
The market opened on strong positive note and the index breached 14,000 crucial level to hit 14,059.87 points intra-day high.
The foreign investors remained net buyers of shares worth $3.81 million; however local investors opted for profit taking in late hours.
Trading activities remained low as the volumes at ready counter declined to 244.205 million shares as compared to 307.931 million traded on Thursday. Total market capitalization reduced by Rs 4 billion to stand at Rs 3.568 billion. Of the total 345 active stocks, 151 closed in negative and 127 in positive while the value of 67 stocks remained unchanged.
Engro Polymer was the volume leader with 27.867 million shares and gained Re 0.27to close at Rs 13.09 followed by PTCL that inched up by Re 0.65 to close at Rs 13.92 with 22.743 million shares. Jahangir Siddiqui Co lost Re 0.74 to close at Rs 18.09 with 18.563 million shares.
In the cement sector, Lafarge Pakistan, Fauji Cement and DG Khan Cement declined by Re 0.26, Re 0.11 and Re 0.67 to close at Rs 5.15, Rs 6.77 and Rs 42.65 with 14.894 million shares, 12.882 million shares and 10.879 million shares respectively while Lucky Cement increased by Rs 1.60 to close at Rs 133.29 with 7.957 million shares.
